Sports Premium 2016 – 2017

This funding aims to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport participation and achievement across the whole school.  It will provide new opportunities and activities, ensuring we allow all children as many chances as possible to develop healthy lifestyle choices, have ambition to reach their potential, learn new life skills and build their teamwork and leadership skills.  Through this investment, we will see not only an increase in active participation, but n enjoyment of a wider range of sport and physical education through a range of activities and experiences.

What is the Sports Premium Grant?

The government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for the academic years 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16 to provide new and substantial primary school sport funding. The funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.

How much is the Sports Premium Grant?

Each school will receive £8,000 plus an extra £5 per pupil each year for the next two years – here at Middlethorpe Primary Academy this will mean around £9,000 a year. The money can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.

How our Sports Premium Grant is being spent and what is the impact?

This grant is being used to improve provision for all of our pupils which is being built up over each year in the following ways:
